Q&A with Colleen, Our Graphics Guru – Biz Programs

September 7, 2018

Graphics Guru

1) Most productive thing you did this summer?

Probably harvesting the garden would be the best answer to this. We had a bumper crop of blueberries and rhubarb this year in addition to our regular garden of tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, basil, snap peas and lettuce.

I have picked and frozen trays and trays of blueberries, made rhubarb pies, snipped basil, whizzed up mega batches of pesto, roasted a tray of tomatoes almost daily for a couple weeks now and daydream about creative ways to use the zucchini and cucumbers. We jokingly call it Biermann’s backyard bounty   I love to cook so this gives me great resources for the rest of the year as most of it went into the freezer.

2) What are upcoming trends that we can see in graphic design?

One of the design trends I am loving right now is layered transparency – transparent type, shapes and photos, adding depth and interest. I also like the way handwritten style fonts are being combined with more standard fonts, even corporate marketing.

3) What’s the number one website you would recommend for design inspiration?

Adobe offers a great selection of articles and design trends, interviews with designers and just a great general source of inspiration. It’s always a good read.
