As change experts, it’s interesting to see how water teaches us that everything is ever changing, as we flow through life. As water begins its journey from its original source, whether that’s through the sky, down stream from a mountain, or a lazy river, it finds its way into a place not necessarily knowing the destination. In some cases, we all start out living like water, coming from a place with a predetermined set of characteristics, challenges and unique gifts. As we flow through life, we experience many highs and lows just like how water flows.
This is a great teacher, since it shows how to move through the world effortlessly, ease, and with bravery. Water may find itself struggling to gain hold as it flows through a heavy waterfall, or as it lays standstill in a puddle with sun beaming heavily. Yet at the end of it, we see and experience water in all aspects of our lives, not knowing the full journey it has made for us to experience it. Water is brave, and it doesn’t cling to its present and past, but simply flows where it’s able to, and keeps progressing forward.
From a river to an ocean, water eventually finds itself in a large body of water, relinquishing control, as it expands and travels through the vast ocean. It gracefully integrates itself and lets go of its individualistic ego to join and be a part of something bigger.
May we all be fluid like water…
